Finance & Support Services

The Finance & Support Services Department is responsible for the financial control and asset management of the municipality, and ensures that statutory requirements relating to finance are carried out. The functions of the Finance & Support Services Department include preparation and monitoring of operating and capital budgets and a ten-year financial plan; levying and collection of municipal property taxes and utility charges; collection and distribution of property taxes for other governments; payroll and benefits administration; accounts receivable; accounts payable; investments; inventory control; and financial reporting.

The Finance & Support Services Department provides information technology services and manages computer systems, equipment and software applications, and a local area network linking municipal facilities as well as IT support services for users.

Human Resources is another component of the Finance & Support Services team.  Human Resources is responsible for recruitment, employee orientation and training, labour relations, collective agreement administration, union/management relations and many other employee related services.
