Why do we have an OCP?

Kimberley’s OCP lays out objectives and policies to guide community planning decisions. Council will follow the policies of the OCP when making decisions about development, zoning, and services to accommodate growth. Kimberley is not required to implement any of the specific policies contained in the OCP; however any bylaws or projects undertaken in the community must be consistent with its policies. The OCP ensures that all future plans, actions, and decisions are aligned and are working towards a common direction.

Kimberley’s OCP is a comprehensive overview of Kimberley’s goals, objectives, and policies that help to define our community. Its purpose is to articulate a framework for success through thoughtful development, attention to social, cultural, educational, and health needs, environmental stewardship, reliable infrastructure, effective governance, and an engaged and informed population.
