Executive Assistant

The City of Kimberley is hiring a full‑time, permanent Exempt Executive Assistant. Reporting to the Corporate Officer, this senior administrative role provides confidential, high‑level support to City Council and the Corporate Administration team. If you’re highly organized, calm under pressure, and thrive in a role where trust and discretion are essential, this could be a great fit.

This position plays a key role in keeping City leadership connected and informed. You’ll be the go‑to support person for scheduling, meeting coordination, correspondence, and delegations, while also serving as a professional point of contact for staff, government partners, community organizations, and the public. No two days are the same, and your ability to juggle priorities and anticipate needs will be critical.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide senior‑level administrative support to City leadership, including drafting correspondence and reports

  • Assist in the preparation of Council and committee agendas and accurately record meeting minutes

  • Coordinate schedules, meetings, travel, training, and conferences

  • Assist with bylaws, contracts, FOIPPA processes, records management, and special projects

  • Respond to public inquiries with professionalism, tact, and sound judgment

  • Help support City communications, events, and Council functions as needed

We’re looking for someone with strong administrative experience, excellent communication skills, and a high degree of professionalism. Experience in a corporate or local government setting, a Business Administration diploma (or equivalent), and the ability to manage confidential and politically sensitive information are key to success in this role.

This is an exempt, full-time, salaried position, working 37.5 hours per week on site at City Hall. Occasional flexibility for evenings or weekends may be required. The salary range for this position is $78,138 - $84,933, calculated based on the successful candidate’s experience and education. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Planner

Reporting to the Manager of Planning and Sustainability, the Planner supports the department by conducting research and analysis relating to departmental and corporate priorities; researching, drafting and implementing bylaws, policies and programs relating to community planning and sustainability reviewing land use and development proposals; preparing reports and recommendations regarding development applications; and providing professional and technical advice to customers inside and outside the organization.

The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of community planning, urban design, brownfield redevelopment, active transportation, and climate adaptation and mitigation. S/he will also be familiar with statutory requirements, bylaws, and procedures applicable to municipal planning and development. Proficient skills in MS Office and use of Geographic Information Systems.
