City of Kimberley Kicks off the Season with Stage 2 Outdoor Water Restrictions
The City of Kimberley is entering Stage 2 Water Restrictions effective immediately. This decision is a proactive measure to manage our water resources effectively due to reduced snowpack levels and the anticipation of warmer and drier summer months.
Stage 2 Water Restrictions encourage responsible water usage, particularly in outdoor activities, to preserve our precious water resources. Residents should familiarize themselves with the guidelines below, further described in the City’s Water Shortage Response Bylaw No. 2527.
Outdoor water usage is limited to specific times. Please follow these guidelines to ensure you comply:
Residential properties:
- Even numbered home addresses can water on Wednesdays and Saturdays
- Odd numbered home addresses can water on Thursdays and Sundays
- Watering is only allowed between 4:00 am – 10:00 am and 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Non-residential properties (including City ornamental lawns and grassed boulevards):
- Even numbered addresses can water on Wednesdays between 1:00 am – 6:00 am
- Odd numbered addresses can water on Tuesdays between 1:00 am – 6:00 am
The City’s Bylaw Enforcement Officer will closely monitor compliance with the support of an Environmental Ambassador throughout the spring and summer months. Failure to follow Stage 2 guidelines could result in a fine.
Kimberley's water consumption remains relatively high compared to provincial averages, highlighting the importance of continued conservation efforts. Residents and businesses are encouraged to explore other ways to conserve water year-round.
